Are there any foods or spices you can use to get the color red or med. pink?

Red is very difficult to achieve in CP soap. If you succeed on making the soap red, it will most likely bleed and stain the bathtub or the washcloth.

For pink, you can try pink clay or infused paprika. Paprika will make the soap more peach than pink though. It's best to infuse it, then strain it.

I've used F.D.&C. Liquid Soap Colours in the reds with a great deal of success....

Soapbuddy, I was hoping you would say try rasberries :) lol, oh well, When I recoup from my last soap spending spree I'll order some soap pigments.

Those are VERY pretty Lindsy!! It tempts me to try again, but I've used the FD&C twice now and had terriable results. Probably just me. Maybe I use too much. How much would you suggest using in a 4 pound batch?

I would only use a few drops. This is F.D.&C. Red #3 & I really like it. Just a note - most of my soaps are OO & CO, the one with the multi-colour swirl also has tallow in it which makes an incredibly white bar!

Dixie4Me & Knine - thank you..... :D

If you're using it for just a swirl or fine layer, you can get a pretty red from Merlot mica - it turns a brighter, truer red in CP than it is in the jar.

I've used it in several soaps but i cannot for the life of me find a picture to show you guys. um, trust me?

I use just a little Brick Red Oxide for the red and one or 2 of BB's pink lab colors for shades of pinks.

I was trying to do one of those triple layer soap from powder pink to coral pink to deep red. But for some reason I didn't have the patient to wait to pour straight lines so I just told myself to screw it and randomly swirled all over the place. End up better than I thought.

I have to say, that Brick Red Oxide is quite strong, a little goes a long way, really, except you will never get the true red.

I've used Morrocan Red Clay and the soap came out a deep red.
