Teach Soap

This is the 5th batch of soap I've made and none of them have been the color I put in. Tonight I used green food coloring and I get salmon colored soap! What on earth can I be doing wrong? The first time was oil based Food coloring....I mixed it with a little oil. Tonight I used water based food coloring so I added 1/2 tsp water and then some oils, mixed well and then added to my soap at light trace. I'm so frustrated!

Food coloring is not the best for soap. It has other additives which can morph the color. I would suggest getting soap safe colors, which are made for CP soap.
If the color is water soluble and it's already prediluted, just add it to the soap as is; usually drop by drop.
If the color is oil soluble, you can mix it with a little bit of oil, but it won't dissolve in water.
Either one can be added directly to soap.

FD&C Blue #1 will start out blue, change to pinkish orange, then settle to purple.

Took the soap out of the freezer this morning and it is still Salmon colored. I'm still mad, so, I'm determined to have green 'cucumber mint' soap. How soon can I rebatch this? It's firm but no doubt soft....I'm comparing this to gelled soap. This was my first time to non-gel. Can I rebatch today and how would I go about adding green candle wax? Thanks.

I use water soluble dye made specifically for cp soap. I love the end results, but don't be surprised to see something different in the first 24 hrs. I use a royal blue that is bright blue in the pot---- starts to fade as I pour into the molds, completely disappears as it sets up and heads to the freezer-- then cures out in the next 48hrs to blue---- go figure!

Sorry for asking so many questions, but....

When I came home from church this batch that is still in the mold (the one took out of freezer) is SOFT. Will it harden up or did I do something wrong? (15hrs.old)

Please don't use candle wax or candle color to color soap!
Since the soap didn't gel, it does take longer to saponify. You can safely rebatch at this point, but please use soap safe dyes.

Please do not use a candle colorant or wax. Those are not tested to be skin safe.
Your best bet by far is getting a colorant designed for CP Soapmaking.
Sites you order from should tell or show you if the color changes or morphs in the soap.
