Hi there Soap Lovers, I need some advice. I have been cooking my HP soap in my crock pot now for two hours and the lye will not cook out. I have used this recipe before but had to sub out the palm oil for Lard. I did run it thru a calculator again. It remain a creamy frothy mixture . Help , do I trash it or can it be saved. After hobby soaping for 5 years this has been my first failed batch. I finally turned it out into a mold, it hardened nicely but is still lye heavy.
Used oo at 28%,co at 25%,lard at 27% and both Shea and castor at 10. Water as% 38 and sf at 5% and added 2% after cook. Can this soap be rebatched and fixed or is it a lost cause. Thanks for any advice ,

Lye would not cook out. It could be a mismeasurement somewhere, your scale is off or your lye is old. How big is the batch?
