I am so confused. I went to the Brambleberry soap calculator and the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic GUild lye calc. I was looking for an 18 oz. oil blend with a 10% superfat. I am super new to soap making. They both gave the same formula but the Guild added 1.8 oz of oil in the superfat area. Am I supposed to add the extra 1.8 oz./ 10% of oils when I do a superfat? on top of the already 18 oz I am adding to start?

Thanks

Superfat is also called a lye discount. What that means that the less lye you use the more superfatted the soap will be. Just plug in your recipe and put in 7-8% superfat. Add all your oils and butters right up front. There is no guarantee that any particular oil or butter will end up as your superfat.
