I made a goats milk soap on Saturday using a guest size tray mold that says "Goatsmilk" on it. What is the best way to cut the soap after unmolding? I didn't have clean cuts, and the soap tended to split off from the bottom sides. I let the soap sit in the mold for about 20 hours, then I put it in the freezer for about 6 hours, then I unmolded it after letting it sit on the counter for about 5 minutes before cutting along the divided lines. I used my big butcher knife, and maybe it was too thick. How do I get the soap to look professional? Maybe my soap was a bit too soft, I'm not really sure. Do you think I should have let it sit in the mold for a couple of days before freezing and unmolding? I read somewhere about freezing the soap when using tray style molds.

Also, I used approximately 1 1/2 tsps of mermaid blue mica for the entire batch because I read on the mold that it holds 1.6 pounds. When I ran my recipe through the lye calculator, I experimented with different oil amounts to find a suitable overall capacity that would be a total of approximately 1.6 pounds. I ended up with 18 oz of oils and the rest in lye & goatsmilk liquid for a total of approximately 25 oz in total. The color seemed to come off a little when I cut the soap. Do you think the color will come off when I start using the soap after curing for 6 weeks?

Some colors can end up different if you are using milk. The whiter the base, the better the color.
For some of my smaller molds like the Milky Way molds, I use a pizza cutter.

I'm going to try the pizza cutter next time, which will hopefully be this weekend. :) My husband also bought me some wire, and he is going to fashion some handles on each end so i have my own wire cutter. Thank you so much for the tips!
