Teach Soap

I have a recipe I would like to try, that is 32% coconut oil, 32% olive oil, 32% palm oil, and 4% castor oil...but the weight in ounces is given for the 10" silicone mold -which holds 50 ounces. The mold I wanted to use is a 9 bar oval silicon mold, which holds only 30 ounces. So when I try to use the calculator, how do I know what my "weight in oils" should be? If I list 30 ounces, then I know the total recipe would be too much for my mold. I haven't found on the calculators where I can cut down the original recipe. Once I learn how to use the calculator, I might try to cut it even further...down to 10 ounces total.

Itried that calculator too...had the same problem. Do I start with the original recipe, then keep dropping the oil weight until the total oil weight and the lye/water weight equals 30 ounces?

When you use the Sage Lye calc, there is a resizer on the bottom. Input how many ounces you want to make, then use the resizer on the bottom for the amount of soap you would like to make.

Ok...I ran the original recipe through the Sage calculator, then resized the recipe to 30 ounces. It told me my total oil weight was 30 ounces, and to use 8 ounces water and 4.7 ounces of lye. That would total 41.7 ounces, or a little more than my mold. I am so confused.

That got closer....33.37 ounces. I'll keep playing with it until I get it....have to learn how to use it LOL.

Dropped it down to 22 ounces oil weight...and got a torla of 28.09 ounces. That's the closest I can come without going over
