Howdy all,

While looking for new swirl patterns online, I came across some YouTube videos for dancing funnel patterns. It looks like a lot of work as the soap batter is put into x number of squeeze bottles, each with a different color, and the patterns are built up by very small squirts on top of each other. The finished product is just amazing (Search for 'Charcoal Lavender Mint Soap - Dancing Funnel'). As this process takes quite some time to complete the oils/lye water are only blended for a very short time to an emulsion and not to even a light trace as I understand it, to give you a longer working time. My questions are around emulsion vs. trace. Are there hidden dangers of not blending to any level of trace? Or is an emulsion a level of trace? Does the soap need to stay in the mold longer? Is this an advanced technique?

Thanks!

Saw a video of this on youtube and according to the description under the video the batter was emulsified but by the time colour and fragrance were stirred in and then transferred to the squeezy bottles and shaken it was at light trace.
