Teach Soap

Hi Everyone,

Am planning on making this charcoal - cardamom soap with jasmine-cardamom infused sunflower oil. looking for your take on the following recipe:

18.00 oz Coconut Oil (Virgin)
12.00 oz Olive Oil (Pomace)
18.00 oz Palm Oil
12.00 oz Sunflower Seed Oil (Cardamom-Jasmine infused)
8.38 oz Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)
19.80 oz distilled water

Any suggestions on how much charcoal can be added in? I would love to have this soap turn out jet black. You think this will trace fast? Should I add in any essential oil too?

Note: I have superfatted this at 7%

Most soapmakers add 1 teaspoon of charcoal per lb. of oils. If you add too much charcoal, it can stain.

Hi,

The soap turned out fine except for the fact it's got more of a marbled effect when I had colored it full black with charcoal. Am guessing it's the sunflower oil since this is the first time I was using it. Have tried the soap in shower and it cleans well and is moisturizing though. Have attached a pic for you to judge.

When I do a full charcoal soap, I predissolve the charcoal in a small amount of glycerin or water to create a slurry. That way it's easier to mix in completely.
