Hi,

I have some queries on "Hardness of soap".

I would like to know if the hardness of an oil varies from place to place.
For eg: I am from India and with Indian weather(which is hot) the coconut oil mostly in liquid state for most part of the year. We hardly see it as a solid oil and we dont have to melt it. And so it palm oil.
That way, will my soap be soft or take more time to cure with indian weather? And should I consider these oils as soft oil for indian whether?

Thanks

I live in the hot desert of Palm Springs. My coconut oil is a liquid. Being a liquid oil doesn't mean that your soap will be soft. That depends on your recipe and the SAP values of each oil. All handmade soap benefits from a 4-6 weeks of cure time. Besides water evaporation to make the soap harder, the pH of soap changes slightly downward, making for a milder bar.
