Teach Soap

Hi soap community! does anyone have an opinion on lead time when filling an order for a retailer who really values soaps smelling great for as long as possible? I only use EO to scent my soap. It seems even after 6 weeks scents calm down. I don't want to be one of those soaper's who's soap you can't smell when you have advertised that it's scented with such and such essential oil. Do you try to make it as close to the delivery date as possible? This forum seems to mostly host fragrance oil users so I'm hoping there are some "purists" out there.

I use both fragrances and essential oils. I cure all my soaps for 4-6 weeks. I prefer to make blends with essential oils and use base notes like Litsea, Vetiver or Patchouli. I prefer not to gel. The scent of my soaps lasts a long time.

Does gelling kill EO/fragrance longevity?

Irena, the base oils you use to give longevity to your scents, : Litsea, Vetiver or Patchouli. Do you add these just to keep scents stable? Would you add these to many blends and do all your soaps all have this woodsy, earthy scent? So you would add this to florals too?

Thanks Irena! I just found a cool article on perfumery fixatives. I think it may pertain to cp soap to some extent but maybe not? CP is different from blends in perfumery (obviously, no exposure to lye) but it's interesting anyway. http://www.edenbotanicals.com/eden-bota ... perfumery/
