Hi Everyone! I have made two batches of CP soap so far and am having a blast! My soaps are still curing so I haven't tried them yet but I do have a couple of questions for you experienced Soapers out there. I have purchased soaps in the past that have left my skin (and tub) with a soap film. Is there any certain oils in a recipe that causes this? Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening since I am making soap now? I am looking for a good face bar recipe and also a moisturizing body soap that will not leave that dry scummy feel. Help please!

**(I'm reposting this here under "Cold Process Soap". This was my first time posting and I accidently posted it under the "Welcome" tab earlier today.)**

That's the nature of handmade soap. It will leave a film on the tub after a while.
Technically, soap doesn't moisturize. It cleans.
I make a Castile soap for the face and superfat all my soaps at 7-8%
I don't go above 20% coconut as my skin finds it drying.

I, too, have a problem with soap film in the tub and sinks but that's not enough to make me stop using my handmade soaps. What I've done is use a daily spray-on shower cleaner, like Scrubbing Bubbles. It smells horrible but it really does the trick. Keeps me from cleaning my tub every other day. If you don't want to use that kind of a product, I also keep a gentle scrubbing sponge in the shower and use my foot to "scrub" the shower floor when I'm done. That helps a little.
