Hi Folks:

In speaking with various soapers, there seems to be great variance in the preferred soaping temps, ranging from 80 degrees F to 120 degrees F.

What do the cooler temps offer that the higher temps do not and vice versa?

Under what scenarios might one want soap at cooler temps and under what scenarios might one want to soap at higher temps?

The higher the temp, the more chance that the soap will reach trace faster. I soap right around 110 degrees (US) as I use beeswax.
Lot of it depends on which oils or butters you use and which fragrance. Some fragrances accelerate trace, so it's beneficial to soap at cooler temps.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who CP soaps with beeswax.

Soap Buddy-Mind if I ask what % beeswax you use in your standard recipe? Mine is 2% and have always wondered if it's too high or low.
