Hello, everyone!

I've been seeing other soapers using Pringles cans as column molds and I was just wondering if any of you lovely individuals knows the best way to line them? Is it just freezer paper around the inside or is there a little circle cut out to fit the bottom?

Because why buy a fancy-pants mold when I'm not sure if I like the shape or not? Especially when I can try it out AND get delicious chips!

Thanks!

I could be wrong but I do believe that if you do use one you have to fix the interior so that it does not have an aluminum lining. Maybe wrap it with freezer paper or something? I know aluminum reacts with the lye.

Sorry just realized I read the post wrong lol. Just ignore the newbie here!

Since I don't eat chips, I use round PVC pipe for a column mold.

Hi there! I used Pringles can the other day as a mold. I cut the bottom off and that end of the can became my top of the mold (I hope you understand what I mean ))) I cut a piece of grease proof paper and just put it inside the can so it overlaps a bit inside. Then I cut another piece of paper, placed it on the plastic lid and closed the can with the lid (that piece of paper was just to ensure soap doesn't leak out of the can.) So the end with the lid on became the bottom of the mold ) When it was time to unmold the soap I had to tear off the can and I noticed that it was lined with the thin layer of plastic on top of aluminium lining so I guess it would not come to contact with the aluminium part anyway. Today I made another batch in Pringles can and I still lined it with grease-proof paper as it just makes it easier to unmold. I will try to save the can this time :)

Hi
I have started using Pringles cans for column moulds. I line them with freezer paper. I cut a sheet slightly taller than the can. The freezer paper wants to roll so I just drop it in the can. When the first glob of soap goes in the freezer paper opens out and closely lines the can.
To remove the soap I just pull on the excess paper sticking out the top and the soap slides out with it. It can take a bit of coaxing but it woks every time.
I have done this 5 times now with no problem I have had no problem with the metal bottom. I find I can also reuse the Prigles cans which is good as I have to beg them from friends who eat Pringles.
