I made my first batch of GM soap this week. I froze the milk in an ice cube tray and added the lye to the cubes. It was great that I didn't have to wait long for the lye to reach the temp I wanted and the milk didn't burn. Now I'm wondering, does anyone freeze their plain distilled water in making their regular cp soap?

I try to. When I remember. LOL! When I have, it works great. Keeps the lye nice and cool.

I don't freeze my water, I just put it in the fridge so it's nice and cold before I add the lye.

I freeze both my goat milk and water before I use it. It keeps everything nice and cool! :D

Thanks everyone for responding to my post. I appreciate all of the help.

JessyV, since you also live in FL do you have any advice for soaping in our climate? Do you even attempt to soap in the summertime?

I keep distilled water in the fridge and make some ice cubes from it that way I don't need to wait until the lye water cools. I use about a 60/40 mix of ice/water and with small batches the temp stays less than 110.

I have no problem soaping in our climate. I usually try to mix when my liquids are cool and my oils are room temp. The only difference I have noticed is that my coconut and palm oils are liquid during summer and semi solid during the little bit of winter we have.
