Hi,

What are people finding is the typical life span for a bar of CP soap? What is the longest life span anyone's had?

I recently used a soap (shower 1x per day) that lasted two weeks and it was a year old! The recipe was very basic (Coconut, Olive, Palm and Castor with a fragrance oil and goat milk), came from one of the recognized books out there and the oils and lye had a starting/mixing temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit (not too unusual). That the bar only made it two weeks was a total shock! Also, it was well drained, out of the water stream, etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks so much.

Some oils, like coconut, dissolve faster. Palm I think is one that makes the bar both harder, and longer lasting. Or lard/tallow, if you use animals products. What were your percentages?

Hard to say how long my bars last. There are usually 3 or 4 in the shower at a time, often they're end cuts and not full size bars, my husband sticks them in a puddle, and he uses a brush that he rubs over them. Gouging the soap can't help it last!
