I am sure its here somewhere but I can't find it. What is the formula to figure the amount of oils for a mold such as a pvc pipe or a pringles can? I want to try a round soap. What is a good diameter for a round soap?

I have a 12" high, 3" wide PVC round mold and it will fit a 2 lb. batch.

You probably want to use a 3" diameter pvc pipe for your round soaps. The formula to find how much oil to use is: 3.14 x r x r x h x .40 with the measurements in inches.

Thanks for the formula. I finally got around to using the pvc pipe. The formula was perfect . I used a plastic cutting sheet from the dollar store as a liner and the soap came right out.

So I use 21 ounces of oil in a Pringles can and it seems to fill it to just below the rim. The way I worked this out is I filled the can with water, weighed it in grams and then multiplied by 0.7. I then converted to ounces and rounded to the nearest whole ounce.
