Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me figure out what I did wrong. I decided to make a peppermint tea soap. I made a strong brew of peppermint tea and used it for my lye water. At medium trace I added in three teaspoons of the ground peppermint tea and peppermint essential oil. The tea leaves were left overs from me making the strong peppermint tea. My soap looked beautiful, a deep cooper brownish color.

I am using the 9 slab acrylic mold from SMR. I see the soap going through the gel phase. As the gel phase looks as if it is completing I can see the tops of be bars turn beige but there is a bit of unevenness to the soaps appearance in the slab. So I figured the soap was still going through the gel phase and this was after 12 hours. Hour 24 still looks a little uneven but overall everything looks okay, so I figure it is time to un-mold, but the soap was sticky . So I put the mold in the oven for 10-15 minutes on 170. The sides of the mold come off, however I have two tone soap. The top of the soap is beige, the side of the soap is the beautiful cooper color of the tea. The sides of the soap is soft but not squishy. I did the zap test and all was okay. The soap are hard on the tops soft on the bottoms. I used the room temperature method to make the soap. Superfat at 7%. I am trying to figure out what to do with the soap and what in the world happened. I checked my recipe over and over again.

Wondering if someone can shed lighting on my dilemma.

Many Thanks, PreciousPlum

Sounds like a partial gel to me. it should mostly even out as the soap cures. Did you see the pics of the soap gelling and partially gelling in this thread? viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5450

Many thanks Soapbuddy,

I took a few pictures tried to upload them, but I keep getting an error message file size is too big even after I adjusted. I can not figure out why the application will not accept my upload.
