Teach Soap

I am having problems with my soap sticking to the molds. Can anyone help solve this problem?

Are you using wooden molds? Are you lining the mold with freezer paper?

How long are you leaving the soap in the molds and how soft of a recipe can be factors in unmolding. Are you using silicone or hard plastic? You can use some sort of release agent with the plastic molds or try freezing the soap for awhile. That may help too.

It could stick if your recipe has a lot of soft oils. Which oils are you using?

i'm using hard plastic molds, the oil used are coconut oil, plam oil and canola oil. What type of release agent can be used?

Canola is considered a soft oil. At higher %, it will make your soap soft and sticky. I would either use it at a lower %, or sub another oil for it like olive.

You can also try a light coating of cyclomethicone.

I have used petroleum jelly, mineral oil and pam cooking spray in my molds. I remember one Christmas when my gingerbread boys had to stay in their molds for 5 weeks before I got them out. I have also done the freezer trick.... freezing, put in warm water and release.
