Hi everyone Im new here.
I am opening a storefront. Since we are moving Id like to pour my CP soaps here and ship them over to our new location with us. Due to that I will be pouring 100 loaves! My molds are slabs that cut into 4 loaves per slab and I love using it.
Due to the curing and storing times along with shipping and setup, I am pouring my scents to the max so in hopes that we get very little that get weak with time. We will pour our lighter scents ( citrus ect) closer to our move.
Our question is that once poured and once cured how long can we store our soap loaves in cardboard boxes? Id like to get the pouring started due to lack of my space here and the drying times. Help? Brambelberry told me up to a year? :D

Hi lynda,
When you say you use the fragrance to the max, are you using safe amounts? BrambleBerry's fragrance oils are quality oils and should not fade that fast. I have some that are a couple of years old and they are still as scented as the day I made them.
Once poured and once cured, you can store your soap loaves in cardboard boxes with no problems, unless it's very humid where you are.

Hi,
Yes! I am using safe levels, I just meant that Im right to the max recommended and not going too light since they will be stored. Its nice to know you have some older than a year!

I started making soap in 2008 and I still have some of my first attempts around the apartment.

The shelf life would depend on the ingredients. For instance...some oils wiht alot of double bonds in the fatty acids, like castor oil, can go rancid over time when exposed to oxygen and the right conditions. Organic collarents can fade. The fragrance can weaken...stuff like that.

Also, I would suggest that you store the soap in a cool, dry environment out of the sunlight and look in on it from time to time.
