Mella, I am wondering because the avocado is so high in fat if it would not be the oils. But then if you are doing a larger batch and keep the SF at 6% you would have some play to have extra fats in the soap.

I generally do an 8% SF, not sure how much I should lower that to account for the avocado. The batch will be ~20oz.

I have made avocado soap and adjusted my liquid (pureed avocado with distilled water added at trace - approx 1 avocado in a 4lb batch)...SF @ 6%. Came out nice and I think I will make it again the same way.

Made this batch tonight and have a couple observations!
1) the oil/avocado mixture looked really curdled at first, but looked fine once the lye was in and I whizzed it up super well.
2) the almond milk and lye mixture maxed out at 64*F. Guess I didn't need to freeze this milk, just needed to be super cold.
3) the milk had a lot of almond precipitate in it, I would recommend straining it before mixing in the lye if you want it without the almond. If you strain it after you will lose a decent % of your liquid.

All in all, the soap looks and smells wonderful! The finished batter was smooth, silky and poured fantastically, it wasn't gritty or lumpy from the almond or avocado.

Almost makes me wish I still lived in Florida where I could just go pick an avocado from my mother-in-law's tree. She also has tangerine, honeybell, grapefruit, banana, papaya, key lime and mango trees. I do miss the fresh fruit... :cry:
