Hi!

I made a batch of soap over the weekend. I used the online lye calc, my measurements seem to be fine.

Sweet Almond Oil - 5.86oz
Castor Oil - .60oz
Coconut Oil - 10oz
Olive Oil pomace - 12.86oz
Shea Butter - 3oz
lavender essential oil 1oz
Oatmeal 2 tbl sp

Water - 12.28oz
Lye - 4.50oz

When I took it out of the mold I noticed that it had almost fully went through gel phase but some of the soap was soft on the bottom of the block and came off rather easy. I plan to let it cure for 6 weeks to see if it hardens up.

But my question is do you think that my recipe is the reason my bar came out softer?

You have a large portion of soft oils in your recipe. It should harden up as it cures. 8)

You have a fairly large amount of sweet almond oil. It's considered a soft oil. Give the soap a nice cure time of 4-6 weeks.

Thank you both! Would you suggest I wait longer than 3 days to unmold and cut my bars?

I would wait as long as you need and cut it when it's hard enough to cut.
