Hello lovely soap ladys en gents,

Hope you are all doing fine! I recently found the new method of miss Sharon, the SB hot process, where in 10 minutes you have a gelled, cooked soap. Her videos look awesome and I am wondering who here has tried it and is happy with the results? I am thinking of buying the e book, but 70 dollar is worth asking your opions, right?

Sorry for my spelling flaws, just a soap making fan from the Netherlands :)

Xxx
Chantal

It's not a safe method and I've seen terrible reviews. I would not buy the e-book for $70. Save your money.

I belong to quite a few soap groups on FaceBook. That's where I've seen the bad reviews.

I am confused what is the question? I do hot process soap all the time and love it (instant gratification)
Though I would not buy a book for $70 to learn how, seems a bit extreme personally. But there are plenty of vids out there. I cook mine in a crock pot, takes longer than 10 minutes, but I suppose with the proper oil blend you may be able to achieve such a quick cook time.

My last couple of batches have been a 100% coconut oil super fatted at 20%. after the gel phase, which took between 10-15 minutes I had to cook the soap on high for an additional 2-3 hours to pass the zap test. After its cooked I add the EOs and coloring. I gave away all my oxides and micas so I had to use liquid soap dyes, which didn't work as well. But I ended up with a light pastel type color which was pleasing in the end product.

its been a couple of years since I have cooked anything other than the recipe I mentioned above, but I think it was about the same.
I am going to make a 100% olive oil HP soap this weekend, sadly it will take much much longer to trace, and apparently 6 months to properly cure for a hardened bar of soap. (so much for instant gratification) I am hoping I can decrease the cure time with either a dehydrator set on the lowest temp (95) or a dehumidifier.
If not I suppose I will be off trying something else while those dry.

dang...I get chatty! Sorry!!

amybb, this is supposedly a new method where you keep stick blending right in the pot way past the trace til the soap gels.
A crock pot is safer to cook your soap in. As far as curing, neither method will speed up curing; only saponification.

With hot process the soap is fully cooked when I mold it, I meant cure as in getting the bar as hard as possible b allowing to sit in a cool dry place for 6 months to allow the evaporation of excess water, so the castile bar wont waste away.
Keeping at SB in the soap after it traces? Why in the world would anyone do that? I am going to have to look at this method, it doesn't make any since to me at least. but then again, my knowledge is so very limited to just what I have tried...
