Due to a terrible global olive oil harvest, prices of olive oil are going up as I speak.

I read about that somewhere and decided to buy my years worth of OO in December, which has been back ordered. Hoping that the supplier comes through with it and doesn't cancel the order due to price increase it not being available. Fingers crossed.

That seriously sucks.... and me, being so broke, cannot afford any right now. I get 4L for 14.00 and 4L canola for 6. 20.00 for 8L of oil, not so shabby. I can pay 2.00 more and get extra virgin, but its too green and messes with colors in soap.

IMO, while you can't sub ALL of the olive oil for RBO, you can sub some.

I like RBO in a recipe at about 10% or less. What about sunflower or safflower oil? Grapeseed? Just trying to think of some other oils that might work. Probably not to replace OO completely, but maybe to add to a recipe.

Grapeseed oil has a short shelf life. Try sunflower or safflower, but look at the bench marks at the soap calc.

I like to use both RBO and reg OO in my recipes. Never tried to make a bath soap w/o OO, only a laundry soap. I picked up a 3L jug of reg OO and EVOO earlier this week at Sam's Club. They were both $1 more than I paid a few months ago. :x I paid $14.98 for the reg and $17.98 for the EV.
