Hello everybody!
I have an idea of my new soap recipe while my first two batches are curing. I want to make soap with orange EO and ground coffee (as an exfoliant).
We have this coffee machine that uses capsules so I was wondering if I can use coffee from the capsules we already used in CP soap. I sometime empty used capsules to get the coffee, then use in in the shower to exfoliate my skin and thought I can probably add it to my soap but wasn't sure if it is any good for CP soap. I did a search online and found out that many people add used ground coffee into their M&P soap but didn't find any info about CP soap. I am not sure if it will react well with lye. Does anybody have an experience with used ground coffee? Or maybe I should just use fresh ground coffee?
Thank you in advance!

I used fresh ground coffee beans in a cp coffee soap that I made, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to recycle the used ones? I don't know if the water that the used grounds absorb would affect the soap recipe or not, but I'm sure some of the more experienced folks here know the answer. :D

We use dark roast coffee ground very fine. I take the left over coffee grounds and put them into a fine mesh and dry they out for a few days. That said I don't like coffee grounds in my soaps too harsh of an exfoiant in my opinion. I prefer a touch of pumice not much is necessary.

I find coffee grounds in soap extremely scratchy.

Thank you all for your replies!
I will try it in one batch for myself only (after I dry them). I used them in shower before and they felt OK , but that's a good point, could be too harsh for other people with more delicate and sensitive skin.
Thanks a lot!

I grind mine to a fine flour in the coffee grinder and use coffee essential oil. The grounds are a pretty mild exfoliate that way and you get more of the benefits from the coffee. Good luck with your soap :-)

I make a kitchen hands soap that uses brewed coffee for water, coffee grounds, and orange EO to get onion and fish smells off your hands. It's a good seller!

artbyrjandreae, Mellifera, thank you! Yeah, I think that coffee from the capsules are also finer than regular ground coffee. Will try and see :)
Mellifera Thanks for the idea!!! That is great! I was actually going to try making anti-cellulite soap because I have read that coffee grounds and orange EO are really good for fighting this problem, so maybe I am naive but I thought I would try to make soap that contained these ingredients and see if it works as an anti-cellulite remedy:) And if it would not have a cosmetic effect then it will find it's place in the kitchen! )
Thank you!

I make a Gardner's Friend soap that has coffee grounds and tea tree oil. My aunt loves it.

[b]soapbuddy[b] oh that's a pity. But it's ok, there are many other ways to use ground coffee :)
