Mostly I'm just looking to make sure that this combo isn't going just plain not work for whatever reason. I'm pretty sure it's generally okay, but that's pretty much just my best educated guess.

Olive oil 30%
Coconut oil 20%
Sweet Almond oil 20%
Cocoa butter 15%
Castor Oil 10%
Avocado Oil 5%

I think this should turn up with a hard bar, with a stable lather, fairly moisturizing. Although I'm not sure if it will be bubbly lather or creamy lather or something in between. I've made soap with 40% coconut oil before that wasn't drying for me, so 20% should be fine for me.

Does this sound about right or have I misunderstood something?

Looks like a nice recipe! With castor and cocoa butter that high trace will happen a little more quickly, just an FYI

I personally find that much castor leaves a sticky, draggy feel when using the soap, so I'd switch the avocado & castor oil percents.

Thanks guys! Thanks for the tip Genny. I might try it both ways, just to see what you're referring to.

If you visit SoapCalc.Net you can enter your recipe for free and the calculator will tell you if you have a good recipe or not. Really recommend this site to all diapers especially beginners.

Thank you! I hadn't ever used soapcalc.net before. I had looked at it before I'd made any soap and couldn't really make any sense of it, even with the "how to use" guide. Hadn't looked at it since but now that I understand what on earth it all means I see how awesome it is, lol.

I use soap calc for all of my recipes. My preferred lye calculator!

I find it clunky. I can do the same things with excel or any spread sheet program, and do them in 1/2 the time it would take me to input the info into soapmaker.

Yep! You can get a quick inventory tracking set up for a spreadsheet program to keep track of when you need to order stuff too (and cost etc). And then download openoffice (openoffice.org) and get a free spreadsheet program. Easier set up than entering everything into soapmaker, in my opinion. But I too am a spreadsheet fanatic! I even have databases for all of the colourants and fragrances that I have, or have had. I was even playing around with graphs a few days ago, getting visualizations of costs and saw some neat seasonal trends with fragrances prices! <3 spreadsheets!
