Do we have a basic go by of percentages for hard and soft oils for creating our own recipes? I can't wait to start my own recipes but am nervous about the percentages. My ideal bar will be a hard bar but slow to trace so I have time to do some fancy colors etc. One I am thinking about trying is 59 % soft and the rest hard oils. thoughts? Also, I generally soap on the cool side because I use goat milk, so far they have turned out pretty nice, but that is just a very basic recipe. Is it bad to soap cool? Usually around 100 degrees for oils and less for the lye. Good grief, sorry for all the questions, the amount I read you would think I would already know all this...

I usually soap between 80 and 90*F when I want to do swirls or more complicated techniques. Your 100*F is just fine! :mrgreen:

Well that's good to hear! Sometimes I wondered if I was hurting the end product by soaping so cool, but the soap has been nice.

My basic bar is 60% hard oils and I soap cool. I usually have lots of time for swirls.
