Teach Soap

I went to the mall yesterday and saw some soap in this new store. It was obviously made by an amateur and I wasn't interested in the least. They weren't labeled with the weight or the ingredients or the place they were made, the cigar bands were simply taped to the soap itself (poorly too I might add), and the scents smelled nothing like the description. These bars couldn't have been more than 3 ounces and they wanted $8.99! And they had some cupcake shaped candles from a different person. They were cute and nicely packaged and priced but the scents didn't match the label at all. Pumpkin spice shouldn't smell like limes!

Yikes! Did you say anything? I probably would have, at least about the fact that scents didn't go with the names.

Sadly, some stores just don't care. I was out of town when I noticed a little, old fashioned General Store. I went in and noticed that they sold handmade soaps. Of course, I had to go take a look. The soap had definite DOS and smelled rancid. The DOS spots were very noticeable, as the soap was wrapped in thin bands of kraft paper. I mentioned to the store keeper that the soap smelled rancid. She said that it was ok because the soap was made with lard. There was nothing I could have said or done to convince her otherwise.

I am so very particular about the way my hands smell, and I'd imagine if the soap smelled rancid then your hands would smell rancid after washing with it (I shudder to think of it as a body soap) yeugh
