Teach Soap

When I check my cold process soap it seems to always be in the 7.25 green color on the paper. That's normal isn't it? I ask because I was doing some reading recently and it said that the best cleaning soap was around 9. Can someone answer this for me? Thank you. V

Yes that's normal. I've been looking into pH's a lot lately because I want to know what I should expect. Having a pH of 9 is okay too, but "more cleansing" can also mean "more harsh" and might not work as well for you or for someone with more sensitive skin.

Handmade soap will always have a pH of around 9. If you are using pH strips, you can get a lower reading because the strips only give you a range and are not very accurate.

Thanks! What do you use to get a more accurate reading? I didn't know what else to use--I got these pH strips at the pharmacy. V

The tongue test is more sensitive. I haven't used pH strips in years.
