What do you use to prevent the fridge from smelling like the FO of your batch? The smell never caused me problems until now that I'm pregnant (superexcited!  ) but this time it's so intense it's making me sick. I know that pregnancy affects the way we perceive odors and taste, but my partner and friends agree that this time it's really bad even for them: the food stored in it tasted like FO too! We had to throw it in the bin and that' a big no...

I made this batch when I didn't know I was expecting the baby, it was 2 weeks ago and the fridge still smells despite the cleaning.
I won't make new soap until the baby is born, but I want to know how to avoid it in the future.

This batch and the ones that caused the most smelling in the past were 100% CO, poured in silicone molds and covered with lids. I always use half than the recommended fragrance ratio per kg (and I've learned at my expenses to measure carefully).
Do different kind of oils absorb fragrance in different ways? Should I use even less fragrance when working with CO?

I don't want to eat cheese that tastes like Marine Breeze again... Any help will be much appreciated!

Congrats!!! Is this your first?

The two suggestions I can think of will not be what you were hoping for: 1. Gel and don't use the fridge - although right now you may be supersensitive to smells. I know when I was pregnant I could not stand the smell of frying bacon.
2. Get a separate fridge, maybe in the garage or basement and use it just for soap.

Once again I am very happy for you!

Congrats on your batch! I would try plain baking soda in an open bowl in the fridge.

Another option besides the baking soda might be some kitty litter.

Maybe you could put some ice or some freezer packs in a cooler and put your soap there, vs in the fridge?

BTW, you can make your own freezer packs with a mix of water and alcohol. My mom did this when she had to ice her shoulder after surgery. I will ask what her ratio was. She sealed the mix in those seal-a-meal bags, which are thicker than regular zip-locks. Then she had a squishy, flexable ice pack.

I asked my mom and she said the formula is 1 part rubbing alcohol and 3 parts water. Rather than freezing hard into an ice block, it's softer, but still cold. The alcohol will eventually eat through the plastic. My mom double-bags hers in seal-a-meal bags.

My congratulations! When it comes to baby, baggies are awesome. They fit one diaper (clean at first and the dirty one after changing!) or one little outfit, or dry formula.

Next tip is for the fridge odor and odors in the rest of the house . . . pour white vinegar in a shallow dish and let it sit in the fridge overnight. It should eat the smell. It works in a room too.

Congratulations! That's wonderful news. Everyone has already given you some great suggestions. If the smell of coffee doesn't bother you, ground coffee (dry, unused) works wonders. It works in the freezer too.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm! Yes it's our first and it's such a surprise! I was a case of.. mmhh, I don't know how to explain it properly in english... I couldn't get pregnant, my follicles didn't grow, never, not even with the help of lots of hormone stimulations. We really had lost our hope and stopped any medical intervention. We just accepted the fact, and leaned toward adoption which was something that we wanted to do anyway in the future. And then... here we are, waiting for our baby made all by ourselves! Doctors are totally amazed. If there's someone among us who is getting through the same, I want to tell her to let it aside for a while, regain strength, try to recover the good things in life that have nothing to do with parenting, or even force yourself to find something else to stress about. Our bump arrived during a family terminal illness, a moving out, and a heavy restoration. There was so much going on that I didn't really focused on my problems, and somehow it worked!

Now, excuse me for the rant! Going back on topic: unfortunately I cannot have another fridge, I wouldn't know where to put it, so I think that I'll try with the baking soda, vinegar, litter and ice packs (I can't stand coffee right now). At the end, there will be no food in the fridge, only soap and its paraphernalia! hahaha

@jillybeansisme: I need help this  "When it comes to baby, baggies are awesome. They fit one diaper (clean at first and the dirty one after changing!) or one little outfit, or dry formula" What's a baggie? Is it some sort of nappy container?

Yes, I was referring to the plastic bag you put sandwiches in that you can press and seal (baggies).

Do not mix baking soda and vingear together or it will erupt!
