I started making cold process soap back in 1997, I made soap for a few years - up until about 2004 or 2005, then just dropped off the soap world! I have kept my fragrance and essential oils over the years and knew I would eventually get back into making soap. WELL, I am happy to say, yesterday I made my first come-back batch!! I used fixed oils that I could get locally until my order from Brambleberry arrives. (Can't wait for that!!) The soap traced well and is happy in the mold - but as all soaps do go through morphing - mine went from a beautiful caramel color to more of a bronze looking color. It actually looks like it might be still in a gel stage, although it is not warm as it usually is in gel stage - so may be cooling and perhaps will lighten up. I used Arabian Spice, a Citrus sorbet from Lebermuth, Red apple and Rum Nut - the combination of these oils I am sure is what is causing the color change. I am not sure that Anne-Marie even carries these oils anymore! I haven't looked at the scented oils yet since I have SO many - and I am happy to say - they still have their scent after all these years!!

Arabian spice will always go dark on me, but I just love this scent.

I took my come-back batch out of the mold a couple days ago - and it is still dark - I truly believe it is the properties of the scents used. My husband asked why all my soaps were brown! heehee. I told him not all my soaps have been dark - I used to make one that I put madder root powder in and it turned a pretty shade of pink. To the newbies out there - you will LOVE making soap - so relaxing. I stir all my batches by hand as I like watching the chemical process.
