Teach Soap

Nope...not hard at all. I've used lots of different kinds of vessels, and none acted like they were going to melt.

I only use heavy duty plastic. My glass cup cracked over a period of time. Lye will etch into it and develop micro cracks.

I had a stained Rubbermaid pitcher that had outlived it's usefulness for drinks... so I wrote all over it and used that for my lye. I mix outside in the cold so maybe that helps a bit but so far no problems with the pitcher melting and I have had thermometer readings of at least 220F.

I was afraid to use glass for fear of shattering due to radical temp changes or just being clumsy.

Also, the plastic pitcher floats nicely in an old plastic bucket of ice water when I need to cool it down a little qicker.
